Product Description

Indonesian Draco Fringed Flying Lizard For Sale

Draco fimbriatus

Probably one of the most fascinating and certainly one of the more sought after species of Agamid, the incredible little Flying Dragon, or Flying Lizard doesn't actually fly, but does possess skin encased, extendable ribs that effectively act as little wings, flipping out from the lizard's side when needed to allow it to glide from tree to tree.  They utilize this special talent to expedite locomotion from one area to another, or to be one heck of a hasty retreat when needed from a predator.  Just because they're (thoroughly) awesome, however, doesn't mean that they're for everyone.  This is a specialized species, that should be kept in a large enclosure, which will allow it to utilize it's wonderfully evolved talent, and if that weren't enough, they seem to require primarily ants, termites, and other tiny feeder insects in order to thrive.  They are tropical, arboreal lizards as well, requiring moderate to high temps in a gradient, moderate to high humidity, and water from a spray or dripper on regular intervals.  Whereas none of this makes them unmanageable, it certainly does make them a challenge, and firmly outside of the grasp and capability of most beginners.  These animals are rarely available, and honestly, rarely observed, so if you've been looking, NOW is the time!

PLEASE understand BEFORE ordering that these are imported animals that are inherently fragile.  If you don't know what you're doing with these guys, for the animal's sake, please think twice.

Bottom Line?

Incredibly unique, the winged Draco is a true wonder of Nature and evolution, displaying an incredibly unique adaptation that allows it to glide long distances across the forest canopy, but please keep in mind that these are challenging lizards as pets, and should only be considered by competent enthusiasts!
